Bilaal Sadeer — East Coast & Belle Mare Expert
I'm Bilaal Sadeer, and Belle Mare is where I go when I want to show someone what Mauritius truly looks like — before the tourists arrive, before the wind picks up, in the first light of morning when the east coast lagoon turns the colour of pale fire. I've been photographing at Belle Mare for fifteen years, and I still find new light here.
The east coast is different from every other part of Mauritius. Quieter. More exclusive. The resorts here — Constance Belle Mare Plage, One & Only Le Saint Géran, Shangri-La Le Touessrok — are world-class not just in their service but in their positioning. They understand that the beach and lagoon are the centrepiece, and they've built around that accordingly. As a local photographer who knows each property personally, I can work within those spaces to create portraits that feel private, unhurried, and genuinely cinematic.
Why Belle Mare is Mauritius's Most Exclusive Photography Location
Belle Mare's reputation rests on a simple fact: the water here is clearer, and the sand is whiter, than almost anywhere else on the island. The east coast lagoon is protected by an offshore coral reef that filters and calms the ocean — and in doing so, creates water of extraordinary clarity. In certain morning conditions, the surface becomes glass-flat, and the entire lagoon reflects the sky and the beach in perfect symmetry.
The beach itself is composed of a finer grade of coral sand than the west or north coasts. Barefoot photography here — feet in the water, sand between toes — produces a sensory detail that the camera captures with unusual clarity. The contrast between the white sand, the pale turquoise shallow water, and the deep cobalt of the reef edge is one of the defining colour palettes of Indian Ocean photography.
Belle Mare faces east — which means it is exceptional for sunrise photography. As the sun rises over the ocean horizon, the light hits the water at a near-horizontal angle, creating a warm rose-gold colour temperature that is fundamentally different from sunset light. For couples who have the discipline to wake early, a Belle Mare sunrise session produces images of extraordinary rarity. Most photographs of Mauritius are taken at sunset on the west coast — a sunrise session here immediately sets your gallery apart.
The resort cluster at Belle Mare and the surrounding area — Constance Belle Mare Plage, Constance Prince Maurice, One & Only Le Saint Géran, Long Beach, Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Ambre Resort — represents one of the highest concentrations of five-star properties on the island. For destination weddings at this level of luxury, the photography must match the setting. That is what I deliver.

What Couples Say About Belle Mare
"We had a sunrise session at Belle Mare for our honeymoon. I can't describe the light — it was rose-gold, and the water was completely still. Bilaal captured us wading in as the sun rose and the images are unlike anything we've ever seen. Pure art."— Charlotte & Ethan, UK · Honeymoon Photography
"The clarity of the water at Belle Mare from above — the drone images show the reef, the sand, the colour gradients. Then ground level with us on the beach in that light. Bilaal delivered a gallery we've been printing and gifting for two years."— Isabelle & François, France · Wedding Photography
