The north coast of Mauritius benefits from a sheltered microclimate — generally drier and calmer than the south and east coasts. The Red Church photographs beautifully in almost all conditions.
Dry Season
May through November. Consistent blue skies, low humidity. The turquoise of the lagoon is most vivid. Optimal conditions for both morning and afternoon sessions.
Wet Season
December through April. Morning sessions (7–10am) are highly reliable. Occasional cloud cover creates soft, even light on the red facade — excellent for portrait work.
Morning Light
7–10am is the prime morning window. North-east orientation means the facade receives warm, directional sunrise light. The grounds are empty and private at this hour.
Afternoon Light
3–5pm brings warm side-light on the church walls and direct light on the turquoise lagoon. Coin de Mire photographs with greater depth and contrast in afternoon haze.

North coast stays slightly cooler than inland. Summer (Dec–Mar) averages 28–32°C. Dry season (May–Nov) is 22–26°C — ideal for outdoor sessions without discomfort.
