What a Pre-Wedding Photoshoot in Mauritius Includes

A pre-wedding session is the shoot where couples finally exhale. There is no ceremony clock running, no guests waiting — just the two of you, the island, and time to make something beautiful. We usually begin in the late afternoon, work through one or two changes of scenery and outfit, and finish with the golden hour as your final backdrop. By the end, being photographed together feels natural — which is exactly the confidence you want walking into your wedding day.

Every pre-wedding package includes unlimited photographs — I never cap the number of images you receive. Each delivered photo gets professional cinematic retouching, the same editorial treatment as my wedding galleries. Drone aerial coverage is included wherever flying is permitted, adding sweeping frames over the lagoon or the Chamarel landscape. Your private gallery arrives within 3 working days, and transport across Mauritius is included — I collect you from your hotel and bring you back, whether we shoot ten minutes away or on the other side of the island.

The images work hard for you afterwards: printed save-the-dates and invitations, your wedding website, a welcome-table display, social announcements, and a guest book your friends will actually want to sign. You receive full digital rights for personal use, in both high-resolution print files and web-optimised versions.

Marrying in Mauritius? Shoot Before the Big Day

If your wedding is happening here, a pre-wedding session a day or two before the ceremony is the smartest shoot you can book. You are already on the island, already relaxed, and the session doubles as a rehearsal for being in front of the camera. Couples consistently tell me their wedding-day portraits came out better because we had already worked together — they knew how I move, how little direction I give, and how quickly an hour passes when the shoot feels like a golden-hour walk rather than an appointment.

There is a practical advantage too. Your wedding day in Mauritius will be photographed at your venue, with your guests, on a schedule. The pre-wedding shoot is where we go to the places the wedding day cannot reach — a deserted beach at sunrise, the volcanic dunes at Chamarel, a mountain backdrop at Casela — wearing something other than the dress and suit you are saving for the ceremony. The result is two completely different galleries from one trip.

Timing is easy to arrange around your wedding logistics: most couples shoot two or three days before the ceremony, leaving a buffer for weather and ensuring the images can even be shown at the reception. One WhatsApp message with your wedding date and venue is enough for me to suggest the ideal session slot.

Saree & Lehenga Pre-Wedding Shoots — Chamarel & Casela

Every year, couples from the UK, South Africa and India fly to Mauritius for one reason: a cinematic pre-wedding shoot that looks nothing like the sessions everyone back home has. A flowing saree against the surreal, striped dunes of the Chamarel Seven Coloured Earths is one of the most striking frames this island offers — the colours of the earth shift from rust to violet as the light moves, and no two sessions ever look the same. At Casela, the mountain ridges and open savannah give a lehenga session the scale and drama of a film poster.

These shoots are planned like productions. We choreograph the dupatta in the trade winds, time the session so the low sun rakes across the embroidery, and use the drone to pull back and reveal the landscape around you. I work with hair and makeup artists experienced in South Asian bridal styling, and I plan outfit changes and locations so a half-day session can move from Chamarel's dunes to a turquoise lagoon at sunset without feeling rushed.

Many of these couples are also planning their wedding celebrations here — if that's you, my Indian wedding photography in Mauritius page covers mehndi, sangeet and multi-day ceremony coverage across the island's resorts. Whether the wedding happens in London, Durban, Mumbai or right here on the island, the pre-wedding gallery becomes the centrepiece of your invitations and your sangeet slideshow.

Bilaal Sadeer — Mauritius Pre-Wedding Photographer

I'm Bilaal Sadeer, a luxury wedding and lifestyle photographer born and based in Mauritius. Pre-wedding couples bring a special energy to a shoot: you are at the start of everything, the excitement is real, and my job is simply to put you in extraordinary light and let that show. My style is cinematic and editorial — images that look like stills from a film rather than poses from a catalogue.

Fifteen years of photographing this island means I know which corner of the Seven Coloured Earths glows at 4pm, which beach in the north is empty at golden hour, and exactly how the trade winds will move a dupatta or a flowing dress. That local knowledge is what separates a nice couple shoot from a gallery that stops people mid-scroll. Wherever you are coming from — down the road or across an ocean — I'll know the exact spot, and the exact 20 minutes of light, that will make your photographs extraordinary.
